Kim Jong Un heads to China for military parade, putin to attend - media

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un left Pyongyang by train on September 1 in the afternoon. Kim is expected to make his debut on the multilateral diplomatic stage at a military parade in Beijing, Yonhap News reported, citing a source familiar with the situation.

Kim's trip to Beijing will last 20 to 24 hours. He is expected to arrive on Tuesday afternoon.

It is said that this will be the first time that Kim, who came to power in late 2011, will participate in a multilateral diplomatic event. His grandfather and founder of North Korea, Kim Il-sung, attended a military parade in Beijing in 1959.

Kim's presence at the military parade in Beijing on Wednesday will set the stage for a possible and unprecedented trilateral meeting with russian president vladimir putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

As a reminder, putin arrived in China on an official four-day visit. During his stay, he plans to hold a number of bilateral and multilateral meetings, as well as take part in a large military parade.
