Detained 52-year-old Lviv resident served with suspicion of murdering Parubiy - Prosecutor General's Office

A detained 52-year-old Lviv resident has been served with suspicion of murdering MP Andriy Parubiy. The Prosecutor General's Office announced this on its Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The detained 52-year-old Lviv resident has been served with suspicion of murdering the MP of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy. The head of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office personally signed the report of suspicion in this case. According to him, "the suspicion is based on objective evidence indicating that the detained person committed the murder of the MP," the report says.

It is noted that the actions of the suspect in the murder of the MP are qualified under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely: under Part 1 of Article 115 (intentional murder) and Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons).

Currently, investigative actions are ongoing with the suspect, searches are underway at his places of residence and stay.

A petition to the court is being prepared to appoint him a preventive measure in the form of detention without the possibility of bail.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on August 30, an unknown person killed the MP and former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy in Lviv. He fired about 8 shots from a short-barreled firearm, as a result of which the victim died on the spot.

On August 31, the suspect's whereabouts were established, he was detained in the Khmelnytskyi Region.

The head of the National Police, Andriy Vyhivskyi, reported that the killing of Parubiy was not accidental, there was a russian trace in it.
