CSTO exercises with nuclear scenarios launched in Belarus

On August 31, exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) began in Belarus, within the framework of which scenarios for the use of nuclear weapons are being practiced. This is reported by Deutsche Welle.

More than 2,000 military personnel from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, russia and Tajikistan are involved in the maneuvers. 450 units of equipment are used, including nine aircraft, helicopters and more than 70 drones of various types.

The Belarusian Defense Ministry noted that the exercises are being conducted under three programs: "Interaction-2025", "Search-2025" and "Echelon-2025". They were moved deep into the country on the instructions of Alexander Lukashenko.

"We deliberately moved the exercises away from the western and southern borders so that we would not be accused of various insinuations and possible provocations," explained the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Belarus, Major General Pavel Muraveyko.

According to him, the maneuvers are working out the planning of the use of nuclear weapons without actual tests. "You cannot use something that, let's say, poses a threat to the whole world, to general security. And how to plan it - we will learn," Muraveyko said.

The exercises will last until September 6.

At the same time, the head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense Kyrylo Budanov warned that with the start of the russian-Belarusian exercises "West-2025" from September 12 to 16, a large-scale information pressure from russia is expected.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that under the cover of the exercises, the formation of offensive groupings of troops is possible.
