Today at 10 pm, at the request of Ukraine, an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council will be held due to the attacks of the aggressor country of russia on Ukrainian cities. This is announced in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Friday, August 29.
Ukraine has called an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. According to him, Ukraine's partners supported this decision.
"The meeting is a response to another massive wave of russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine. These strikes have led to dozens of civilian casualties, including children," Sybiha stressed.
Only tough sanctions pressure can force russia to take real steps aimed at ending the war, and not "imitation of diplomacy," the Foreign Minister emphasized.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on August 29, the Swedish Foreign Ministry summoned the russian ambassador in connection with the russian attacks on Ukraine.
On August 28, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced that the country summoned the russian ambassador due to the russian attack on Kyiv.
As a reminder, on the night of August 28, russian invaders carried out a massive combined strike on Kyiv. Significant damage was recorded in 7 districts of the city.
