German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said that russia's attacks on Kyiv, including on the EU diplomatic mission in the Ukrainian capital, cannot go unanswered.
It was reported by Reuters.
"Last night we once again experienced in a terrible way how Russia attacked and bombed Kyiv, civilians died, children died, and the European Union delegation was also attacked. And that cannot remain without consequences," Wadephul told reporters.
Asked to provide further details at a news conference with his Estonian counterpart, Wadephul declined, saying that Germany wanted to show that it was considering further responses and that any action would be taken together with the EU.
He also welcomed US President Donald Trump's efforts for peace in the war in Ukraine, adding that russian president vladimir putin had not yet shown them enough respect.
"I therefore assume that the United States of America will seriously consider further sanctions," said Wadephul, adding Europe was determined to continue pursuing a clear policy on sanctions.
