Women-members of local councils will now be able to cross state border - Svyrydenko

Women-members of local councils working on a voluntary basis will now be able to cross the state border without hindrance. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency Agency reports.

"Today, the Government adopted a decision that concerns women-members of local councils working on a voluntary basis: now they will be able to cross the state border without hindrance during martial law," she said.

Svyrydenko noted that previously they could not even leave on legal leave to see relatives or bring aid to the military, which limited volunteer activities and forced some to resign their mandates.

"The new decision removes these barriers. We want women-member of councils to remain active and continue to develop their communities," the Prime Minister emphasized.

She clarified that the changes apply to female members of all levels of councils, except for those who receive a salary for their work in local government bodies.
