Experts predict coffee crisis, grain price to rise by 40% - media

This year, coffee prices may increase by 40%, that is, for consumers it will be about 10%, or rather all 20%.

This is reported by the publication Korotko pro, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Bad news for coffee lovers - due to drought in Brazil and rains in Vietnam, the coffee harvest may be quite bad. The harvest in Brazil has decreased by 10-11%, in Vietnam - by 10-20%," the publication says.

It is noted that compared to last year's 125% increase in the price of Arabica, these are trifles.

But the price of coffee in stores and coffee houses is already biting, and it will be even worse.

The publication gives examples of coffee prices in supermarkets, which currently average UAH 80 per 100 g of coffee beans, and soon they may cost UAH 96.

A 250 g package of ground coffee, which currently costs UAH 250, will cost UAH 300 after the price increase.

The publication says that in 2000, the level of coffee consumption was only 0.2 kg per person per year, and by 2018 this figure had increased to 1.2 kg, and by 2020 it had reached 1.5 kg.
