The US President intends to abandon efforts to organize a bilateral meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and russian dictator vladimir putin.

The unnamed interlocutors of the publication said that Trump does not intend to play a direct role in organizing a meeting between Zelenskyy and putin.
In recent days, Trump has told advisers that he intends to hold a trilateral meeting with Zelenskyy and putin, but only after the two leaders meet each other. At the same time, the US President has refused to participate in efforts to organize this meeting.
An unnamed senior representative of the Trump administration characterized the actions of the US President as a "wait-and-see attitude."
According to The Guardian, Trump's reluctance to push putin and Zelenskyy to a meeting is due to the fact that in recent days he has admitted that ending the war in Ukraine has turned out to be a more difficult task than he initially anticipated. During his election campaign, Trump promised to stop the war in 24 hours.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 19, Trump published a post on the social network Truth Social, in which he announced the start of preparations for a meeting between Zelenskyy and putin.
The day before, the American television channel CNN published a material based on the opinion of experts. It states that putin is not ready to meet with Zelenskyy "neither now nor later."
