On August 19, law enforcement officers in the United Arab Emirates, at the request of Ukraine, detained Member of Parliament Fedir Khrystenko. He is suspected of collaborating with russia.
This is reported by the Telegraf publication.
According to the investigation, Khrystenko's actions directly influenced the activities of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.
His wife Maryna reported on the detention, who linked the incident to the investigation of the so-called "tapes" from the apartment of businessman Tymur Mindich, close to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Recall, Khrystenko missed more than 94% of votes in parliament from the beginning of 2022 to May 2023 and, after the start of a full-scale war, virtually disappeared from meetings and social networks.
In 2020, Khrystenko became one of the initiators of the submission to the Constitutional Court on anti-corruption legislation. The decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine effectively abolished liability for false declarations and electronic declarations, which closed a number of cases against officials.
The MP also voted against condemning the russian federation's recognition of certain territories of Donbas and against imposing sanctions against russia. His actions directly affected the work of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the NABU, undermining the independence of these bodies.
According to the SSU, Khrystenko acted as an agent of the russian FSB since the time of Yanukovych's presidency, carried out intelligence tasks and tried to influence the NABU. The investigation established his participation in the "Anti-Maidan" and the transfer of confidential documents of the Bureau, and during the full-scale russian invasion, he went abroad, maintaining contacts with the NABU leadership and helping Ukrainian businessmen cross the border.
Currently, Khrystenko has been notified in absentia of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28, Parts 1 and 2 of Article 111 (high treason), and Part 2 of Article 369-2 (abuse of influence).
