The object that crashed near the village of Osiny in the Łuków District of the Lublin Voivodeship was a russian drone. This is a provocation by russia, which took place at a special moment when discussions about peace are ongoing. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Poland Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz has stated this, the Polish Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday, August 20.
"We are dealing with a provocation by the Russian Federation, with a Russian drone. We are dealing with a special moment when discussions about peace are underway, when there is hope that this war (...) has a chance to end. Russia is provoking again," Kosiniak-Kamysz said.
The head of the Defense Ministry emphasized that he had instructed the Operational Commander, General Maciej Klisz, to prepare a detailed report on the russian provocation and recommendations for Poland's actions in such a situation. According to him, the russian federation has already carried out eight provocations against NATO member states and their allies.
"Eight airspace violations and provocative drone attacks were carried out in the territory of Moldova, three times in the territory of Romania, three times in the territory of Lithuania and twice in the territory of Latvia. These are exclusively incidents related to drones. This time the provocation concerns Poland," Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized.
