US President Donald Trump has canceled his August vacation at the Bedminster resort to work on talks to end the war between Ukraine and russia, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday, The Hill reported.
Leavitt said Trump considered continuing peace talks while at his golf resort in New Jersey but decided to stay at the White House.
"This is normally the time when the president goes on vacation, but not this president. There [were] discussions about him working from Bedminster for a couple of weeks, but he decided against it," she said.
Leavitt added: "He's a man on a mission. He wants to move. Get things done quickly. He wants to strike when the iron is hot."
US presidents usually take a vacation in August, when Congress is on recess. In 2017, during his first term, Trump spent 17 days in Bedminster.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 19, US President Donald Trump announced the start of preparations for a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and russian president vladimir putin.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine should abandon hopes of returning Crimea, which was occupied by russia, and joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
