Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump exchanged gifts during a meeting at the White House on August 18. This is announced in a statement from the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Thus, the head of state presented the US President with a golf club, which was given to him by junior sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Kostiantyn Kartavtsev. Zelenskyy said that the soldier lost his leg in the first months of the full-scale russian invasion, saving his comrades. According to him, golf became part of Kostiantyn's rehabilitation and helped restore balance - physical and emotional.
The head of state also showed a video in which a Ukrainian soldier appeals to the US President to help Ukraine end the war with a just and lasting peace.
In turn, Donald Trump accepted the gift and recorded a video thanking the Ukrainian soldier for the golf club, and also presented the Ukrainian President with symbolic keys to the White House.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, according to The Wall Street Journal, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked US President Donald Trump more than 10 times during a meeting at the White House on August 18.
