The United States will try to create a scenario to stop the war in Ukraine, but this may not be possible. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated this, Reuters reported on Sunday, August 17.
Rubio noted that the US is working on options to end the war in Ukraine, but admitted that they may fail.
"If peace is not going to be possible here and this is just going to continue on as a war, people will continue to die by the thousands ... we may unfortunately wind up there, but we don't want to wind up there," Rubio said.
According to him, there is potential for progress within the framework of the meeting between US President Donald Trump and russian leader vladimir putin, but russia and Ukraine will have to make concessions to conclude a peace agreement.
