Former commander of Henichesk minesweeper Boichuk returned from russian captivity

Today, August 14, former commander of the Henichesk minesweeper Oleksandr Boichuk returned from russian captivity. The Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vice Admiral Oleksii Neizhpapa announced this on Facebook, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Today, former commander of of the Henichesk minesweeper Oleksandr Boichuk, who took it out from under the nose of the Russians during the annexation of Crimea in 2014, returned from Russian captivity," he said.

Neizhpapa said that on February 24, 2022, Boichuk was in Mariupol on the command ship "Donbas", courageously defending himself with his comrades, he was surrounded, and later captured.

The commander greeted the hero on his native land.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on Thursday, August 14, Ukraine returned another 84 Ukrainians from russian captivity, including defenders of Mariupol and civilians.

Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko reported that among those released today is a colonel, a border guard from the Mariupol garrison, who had been fighting since 2014, was wounded, but continued to defend Ukraine, the enemy held him in Olenivka for a long time.
