Ukraine returns 84 more Ukrainians from captivity, including Mariupol defenders and civilians – Zelenskyy

Ukraine has returned 84 more Ukrainians from russian captivity, including Mariupol defenders and civilians. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"We are returning Ukrainians home, to Ukraine. A new exchange, 84 people. These are both military and civilians. Almost all of them need medical care, significant rehabilitation. Among the civilians released today are those who were held by the Russians since 2014, 2016 and 2017. Among the military released today are Mariupol defenders," he said.

Zelenskyy thanked the United Arab Emirates for their assistance in this exchange, as well as the Ukrainian soldiers who replenish the exchange fund for Ukraine every week at the front.

He also announced further exchanges.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in early August, Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine was working on lists of 1,200 prisoners of war, the exchange of which was agreed upon during the last round of negotiations in Istanbul.
