Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has confirmed his country's readiness to organize a summit of the leaders of Ukraine, the United States, russia and Turkey. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Tuesday, August 12, following a conversation with Erdogan.
Zelenskyy stressed that the Turkish president supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Erdogan stressed that any negotiations without Ukraine will not bring lasting peace.
"He noted that we are ready for any format of the meeting in order to stop the killings and end the war. President Erdogan confirmed his country's readiness to organize a summit of the leaders of Ukraine, the United States, Russia and Turkey," Zelenskyy reported.
The President of Ukraine thanked Turkey and the entire Turkish people for their warm attitude towards Ukrainians.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed his desire to turn Istanbul or Ankara into a center for a peaceful settlement of russia's war against Ukraine.
On May 31, Erdogan, in a telephone conversation with Zelenskyy, stated the need for urgent negotiations with kremlin leader vladimir putin.
On May 30, Zelenskyy discussed with Erdogan the possibility of organizing quadrilateral talks at the level of the leaders of Ukraine, russia, Turkey, and the United States.
