Turkish President Erdogan calls on Zelenskyy, putin to meet without delay

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stated the need for urgent talks with kremlin leader vladimir putin.

His press service reported this on X.

On the eve of the second round of talks in Istanbul on a ceasefire in Ukraine, Erdogan said that a meeting of leaders should take place after the meeting of delegations. The Turkish President believes that this will contribute to the peace process, and he called for it to be implemented without delay.

He noted that discussing a possible ceasefire during the second round of talks planned to be held in Istanbul will lay the foundation for achieving peace, and the participation of strong delegations from both countries in the talks is important for continuing progress on the path to peace. The words about strong delegations probably referred to the composition of the first russian delegation, which consisted of low-ranking officials. Zelensky then noted that it was of a fake level.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Office of the Ukrainian President also reported on his conversation with Erdogan. Zelenskyy personally thanked Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkey for their consistent position in supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
