Russia buys Siemens equipment for explosives plant in russia, bypassing sanctions

The russian company "Biysk Oleum Plant", which produces explosives, has bought equipment from the German company Siemens, bypassing sanctions.

It was reported by Reuters.

Journalists analyzed data from the state procurement system and found out that the equipment was supplied through Chinese companies. These are systems designed to ensure control and automation of production processes.

In October 2022, "Biysk Oleum Plant" and the Kaliningrad company "Techpribor" signed an agreement for the supply of equipment.

During 2023, "Techpribor" imported equipment from China, purchasing it from Huizhou Funn Tek and New Source Automation.

Journalists contacted the manager of New Source Automation. He confirmed the fact of supplies. According to him, the company can purchase any Siemens equipment and not disclose the final recipient.

Siemens told the agency that the company complies with international sanctions and requires similar actions from its partners. They also admitted that some goods could have entered russia without the concern's knowledge.

According to Reuters, the machines for which the Siemens equipment was intended play an important role in increasing the production of explosives used to manufacture ammunition.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in May of this year it became known that russia is carrying out a large-scale reconstruction of the "Biysk Oleum Plant" to increase the production of explosives.

And the day before, the media wrote that India sold explosives to russia for almost USD 1.5 million, despite threats from the United States.
