Putin himself offers Trump meeting after Witkoff's visit - CNN

The initiative for the meeting between russian president vladimir putin and US President Donald Trump came from the russian side. This is announced in a statement by White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt, CNN reports.

"As President Trump stated today on Truth Social, during the meeting of Special Envoy Witkoff with president putin, great progress was made. The russians have expressed a desire to meet with President Trump, and the President is open to meeting with both president putin and President Zelenskyy," Leavitt noted.

Two White House officials also told CNN that putin offered to meet with Trump during the russian leader's personal meeting with Witkoff in Moscow.

According to two White House officials, Trump's aides immediately began planning these meetings. While it usually takes time to plan Presidential trips and important meetings with two world leaders, these officials noted that Trump is urging his team to act quickly.
