Ukraine to receive 2 large arms packages within month – AP

NATO has begun coordinating regular deliveries of large arms packages to Ukraine. Two transfers are expected this month. It was reported by the Associated Press on Tuesday, August 5.

According to the publication, the Netherlands said it would provide Ukraine with air defense equipment, ammunition and other military assistance worth EUR 500 million (USD 578 million), most of which will be purchased from the United States. The selection of weapons is based on Ukraine's priority needs on the battlefield.

"Packages will be prepared rapidly and issued on a regular basis," NATO said.

European allies and Canada are purchasing most of the weapons and equipment that will be sent from the United States, since the country has much larger stocks of military equipment and more effective weapons. At the same time, the administration of President Donald Trump is not providing Ukraine with any weapons, writes the AP.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 14, US President Donald Trump announced that Ukraine would receive 17 MIM-104 Patriot air defense systems.

On July 16, Trump announced that the first Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems for Ukraine had already left for the Allies.

In addition, the Canadian government will allocate about USD 15 million for the repair of Leopard2 tanks, which are in service with the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
