The Canadian government will allocate about USD 15 million for the repair of Leopard 2 tanks, which are in service with the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Canadian Defense Minister David McGuinty said this at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein), his words are quoted by RBC-Ukraine.
According to McGuinty, the government of his country will donate an additional CAD 20 million (about USD 15 million) for the needs of Ukraine.
These funds will go to support the Leopard 2 tank technological maintenance center, which operates in Poland.
The money will be allocated from the volume of investments for 2025-2026, allocated for providing military assistance to Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 21, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, during a meeting at Ramstein, listed the weapons that Ukraine critically lacks for defense.
Recall, on July 19, The Wall Street Journal wrote, citing its own sources, that US President Donald Trump intends to redistribute arms supplies to allies, giving priority to those that transfer their stocks to Ukraine.
