The Ministry of Defense has simplified the registration of information about the killed, missing and captured military personnel. The Ministry of Defense announced this, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"The defense department has simplified the work of military units during the documentation of cases of death, capture, disappearance of military personnel during hostilities," the message says.
It is noted that the relevant order was developed by the Main Department for the Protection of the Rights of Servicemen, the document approves changes to the Instructions for the Organization of Personnel Accounting in the Ministry of Defense system.
The order also supplements and streamlines the list of information provided by military units to territorial recruitment and social support centers, as well as from this centers to military families.
"From now on, if there are no signs of a crime, it will not be necessary to conduct an investigation into the facts of the disappearance of servicemen, capture or hostage, internment, death. In such situations, the commander of a military unit receives the right to independently issue an order on the circumstances of the event without conducting an official investigation," the message says.
The Ministry of Defense notes that the implementation of the document will significantly relieve the work of military unit headquarters, speed up the registration of such cases and allow families of military personnel to be informed more promptly about the circumstances that occurred to their loved ones, and reduce the number of technical errors during the preparation of documents on the fact of disappearance, capture or hostage, internment, death.
"This decision is a response to the real challenges that both military units and the families of our defenders face every day. And we understand how important it is that the process of processing and transmitting relevant information be clear and prompt. That is why the order was developed at the request of the Commissioner for the Protection of the Rights of Military Personnel and Their Families, with whom we closely cooperate to strengthen the legal protection of our military," said Colonel Ruslan Tsyhankov, head of the General Directorate for the Protection of the Rights of Military Personnel and Their Families.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, according to the legislation, the families of military personnel who died in captivity will receive a one-time cash benefit in the amount of UAH 15 million.
In July, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the procedure for paying UAH 15 million to the families of deceased volunteers.
