This is unacceptable. Trump criticizes India for buying russian oil

US President Donald Trump's adviser, Stephen Miller, accused India of actually financing russia's aggression against Ukraine through the purchase of oil from moscow.

"What he (Trump) said very clearly is that it is not acceptable for India to continue financing this war by purchasing the oil from Russia," Miller said on the Sunday Morning Futures program, Reuters reports.

According to him, India has "basically tied with China" in terms of imports of russian oil. "People will be shocked to learn that India is basically tied with China in purchasing Russian oil. That's an astonishing fact," he added.

Reuters emphasizes that this statement was one of the sharpest criticisms of India from the Trump administration, despite the fact that the country remains a key US partner in the Indo-Pacific region.

At the same time, Miller clarified that Donald Trump "has a tremendous relationship" with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 31, Reuters wrote that Indian state-owned oil refining companies had allegedly suspended purchases of russian oil.

The media also reported that Indian refiners had been instructed to develop a plan to abandon oil from russia and replace it with grades from other countries.

And later, US President Donald Trump confirmed that India's largest oil refinery had purchased American oil.
