ARMA head Duma resigns

The head of the National Agency of Ukraine for Finding, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes (Asset Recovery and Management Agency, ARMA) Olena Duma has written a letter of resignation from her position. Duma announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"I know how to make decisions. I wrote a letter of resignation from the position of head of the National Agency for Asset Tracking and Management and I ask the Government to grant it. Today, the law on strengthening the institutional capacity of ARMA officially came into force. Therefore, it is important to do it on this day," she said.

Duma noted that an international audit of the National Agency is ahead - an important step for further strengthening the work of ARMA, and she signed a statement to ensure that it is conducted independently.

She believes that the government should appoint one of her deputies as the temporary acting head of ARMA, who will ensure decent support for the international audit and the effective work of the National Agency for the period of a new competition for the position of head of ARMA.
