Turkey unveils first domestically produced hypersonic ballistic missile

The Turkish company Roketsan unveiled its first hypersonic ballistic missile, the Tayfun Block 4, on the opening day of the International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF) 2025 in Istanbul. This was reported by Turkiye Today and the company's X-account.

The Tayfun Block 4 missile weighs 2,300 kilograms, is 6.5 meters long and has a range of 800 kilometers.

"The Tayfun Block-4 reaches great distances, setting another record for the Turkish defense industry. This new version of the Tayfun, weighing over 7 tons, with its multi-purpose warhead will be capable of destroying numerous strategic targets such as air defense systems, command and control centers, military hangars and critical military facilities, from kilometers away," Roketsan said in a statement.

The International Defense Industry Fair in Turkey began on Tuesday, July 22, and will last for six days. More than 900 Turkish and 400 foreign defense companies from 44 countries are participating in the event. In particular, delegations from countries such as China, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and Pakistan are represented.
