Turkey will host NATO summit in July 2026. Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said this, according to the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet.
President Erdoğan said that before the meeting of the leaders of the Alliance member states, the Turkish authorities "will prepare the ground for important decisions."
It is noted that Erdoğan recalled his participation in the NATO summit in The Hague on June 24-25, and stressed Turkey's firm position on cooperation in the field of defense and regional issues.
"We have shown our determination to remove barriers to trade in defense industry products in the alliance documents," he said.
President Erdoğan noted that Turkey raised the issue of the continuation of the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip during the meetings at the highest level.
"Both in closed meetings and in our discussions with leaders, we have drawn attention to the oppression in the Gaza Strip, which has been ongoing for the past 21 months," Erdoğan added.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, US President Donald Trump said he wants to involve Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in resolving the war between Ukraine and the aggressor country of russia.
It was also reported that Erdoğan wants to gather putin, Zelenskyy and Trump in Turkey for peace talks.
