The Servant of the People faction has submitted a bill on the de facto liquidation of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NACB) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SACPO) for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada today. Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a Member of Parliament from the Holos faction, announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The Servant has just submitted to the agenda today bill 12414 on the de facto liquidation of the NACB and SACPO. They want to vote as quickly as possible," he said.
According to Zhelezniak, through bill 12414 (amendments to the Criminal Code), an amendment on the de facto subordination of the NACBU to the Prosecutor General and the possibility of transferring cases under the jurisdiction of the NACB to other law enforcement agencies during martial law.
"After this bill, the NACB and the SACPO will de facto turn into wedding generals," he noted.
According to Zhelezniak, the bill provides that the head of the prosecution body for SACPO prosecutors will be the Prosecutor General, not the head of the SACPO, which, in his words, means that now the Prosecutor General will determine which prosecutor will monitor the NACB investigations.
The Prosecutor General will also have the right to request any NACB proceedings and transfer them to another prosecutor for study.
In addition, the norm prohibiting the taking of proceedings from the NACB is being removed.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 21, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau stated that the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation, and the Prosecutor General's Office were conducting at least 70 searches of at least 15 NACB employees on the basis of their alleged involvement in a road accident.
The SACPO also stated that the SSU came to the prosecutor's office to inspect and received access to data on all special operations of the NACB and SACPO.
The SSU accused the SACPO of manipulation and denied receiving access to data on all special operations of the NACB and SACPO.
The SSU and the Prosecutor General's Office reported that they had exposed the FSB's agent penetration of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine. As a result of comprehensive measures in Kyiv, an employee of the NACB Central Office, who works in the most elite closed unit "D-2" and spied for the russian special service, was detained.
