Pistorius agrees with Pentagon to supply 5 Patriot systems to Ukraine

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has agreed with Pentagon Chief Pete Hegset to join Germany in providing five Patriot systems to Ukraine at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format. This is reported by European Pravda.

"Germany will provide additional air defense systems and the necessary ammunition. Moreover, during my trip to Washington last week, I agreed with Pete Hegset that Germany will join the supply of five urgently needed Patriot systems as soon as possible," German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said.

He also stated that the mechanism for implementing these plans will be coordinated with partners in a "spirit of mutual trust."

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the United States of America has informed Switzerland of a delay in the supply of MIM-104 Patriot air defense systems due to a shift in priority towards Ukraine.

On July 4, US President Donald Trump announced that Ukraine would receive 17 Patriot air defense systems.

Yesterday, July 16, Trump announced that the first Patriot air defense systems are already in the process of being sent to Ukraine.

Recall that Military Watch Magazine wrote that the supply of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine will be delayed due to small stocks of ammunition for them in the United States.
