In January-June, fertilizer imports to Ukraine increased by 25%.
The Infoindustria.com.ua website announced this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The report states that imports of nitrogen fertilizers increased by 19.5% to 842,000 tons compared to the same period last year.
It is noted that the largest relative increase in import volumes is observed in NPK fertilizers, but in physical weight it is only 379,000 tons, which is approximately 40-45% of the need for the first half of the year, in normal (pre-war) years.
It is also noted that fertilizer prices have increased, for example, the average price tag of imported nitrogen fertilizers has increased from USD 385 to USD 515 per ton.
And imports of urea have also increased significantly - this is the main imported fertilizer.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in the first quarter of 2025, the plants of the Ostchem nitrogen holding increased fertilizer production by 5.3% to 529,300 tons compared to the same period last year, when 502,800 tons were produced.
The Ostchem holding unites the nitrogen chemistry enterprises of Group DF.
Group DF is a diversified international group of companies, whose business is represented in 11 countries in Europe and Asia.
The main areas of activity of the group are nitrogen, titanium and gas businesses.
The founder and owner of Group DF is businessman Dmytro Firtash.
