Ostchem plants increase fertilizer production by 5% to 529,000 tons in Q1, 2025

In the first quarter of 2025, the plants of the Ostchem nitrogen holding increased fertilizer production by 5.3% to 529,300 tons compared to the same period last year, when 502,800 tons were produced.

This is indicated in a statement by Group DF, which includes Ostchem, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

In particular, Cherkasy Azot produced 394,800 tons, and Rivneazot – 134,400 tons.

The statement said that the production structure changed in accordance with demand and taking into account imports: the specific weight of ammonium nitrate and urea fell, and the weight of the most popular type of fertilizer – Urea Ammonium Nitrate (UAN) - increased.

Ammonium nitrate production in the first quarter of 2025 decreased from 246,000 tons (last year) to 226,500 tons, urea production fell from 123,500 tons to 116,700 tons.

UAM production increased from 123,800 tons to 162,200 tons.

The volume of Lime Ammonium Nitrate (LAN) production (produced only at Rivneazot) amounted to 15,800 tons (in the first quarter of 2024, 10,800 tons were produced).

“Ostchem enterprises faced forced production shutdowns associated with drones entering the territory of our plants, destruction of external gas and energy infrastructure in Cherkasy and Rivne regions. Force majeure led to forced disruptions in the supply of fertilizers, so we apologize to our customers,” said Oleh Arestarkhov, Head of Corporate Communications at Group DF.

It is noted that the Ostchem nitrogen holding revised its strategy in 2025: the new priority is reducing production risks through investments in the energy independence of enterprises.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in January-June 2024, Ostchem enterprises reduced the production of mineral fertilizers by 4.3% to 918,500 tons compared to January-June 2023.

Ostchem Holding unites the nitrogen chemistry enterprises of Group DF.

Group DF is a diversified international group of companies, whose business is represented in 11 countries in Europe and Asia.
