World record holder, Ukrainian high jumper and Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh spoke about her impressions of the fight and the lightning victory of boxer Oleksandr Usyk, who retained the title of absolute world champion in heavyweight.
She shared this in a comment to Suspilne Sport.
Mahuchikh congratulated Usyk on the victory. She shared that at the beginning of the fight it was "very nervous and stressful", but in the end she is happy with the victory of the Ukrainian boxer.
"It was very cool, very fast. You kind of sit, watch - oops, and that's it, we won, Ukraine won, Usyk won. It was just great," the athlete said about her impressions.
Mahuchikh also added that she was delighted with the scale of the competition.
"It's really cool that such events unite Ukrainians - many Ukrainians came to support. I hope that someday athletics will be at the same level, when people will come to cheer with the same enthusiasm," the athlete added.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk defeated Daniel Dubois early in a rematch that took place on July 19 at Wembley Stadium in London. The Ukrainian knocked out his opponent in the fifth round and became the absolute world heavyweight champion.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated boxer Oleksandr Usyk on his victory in the fight with Daniel Dubois and retaining the title of absolute world heavyweight champion: "Olyksandr Usyk did it again! Absolute champion. Legend. Ours".
Previously, former world champion and 2016 Olympic gold medalist Robson Conceição expressed confidence in Oleksandr Usyk's victory in the upcoming rematch with Daniel Dubois. According to his prediction, Usyk could end the fight with a late knockout or win by decision.
