Ukraine will soon receive support for long-range strikes – German Chancellor Merz

Ukraine will soon receive additional support that will help it strike at long distances.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has stated this during a joint meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Sky News reports.

Thus, he stated that Ukraine needs deep strike systems to better defend itself, and that "very soon, in the near future" Kyiv will receive additional support in this direction.

"Ukraine will be in a much more advantageous position and will be able to use these systems, as well as receive support from us for these systems in the coming weeks and months," Merz said.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, meanwhile, stated that the friendship treaty signed on July 17 allows London and Berlin to cooperate in the areas of procurement and production.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the German Ministry of Defense did not confirm the statement of the President of the United States of America Donald Trump that the first deliveries of components for the Patriot air defense system, which he spoke about the day before, are already on their way from Germany to Ukraine.

According to Reuters, the European allies first heard about the proposal of US President Donald Trump to send their weapons to Ukraine, and in return buy weapons from the United States, right during his speech.
