US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held talks with the foreign ministers of Great Britain, France and Germany, during which the war in Ukraine was a key topic.
This was reported by the US Department of State.
Rubio emphasized that for the administration of President Donald Trump, the main task is to achieve peace through diplomatic efforts.
"In a conversation about the russian-Ukrainian war, the Secretary of State emphasized that President Trump's priority remains to end the conflict and seek a political settlement through negotiations," the statement said.
In addition to the Ukrainian issue, the parties discussed the situation in the Middle East, in particular the threat of nuclear proliferation from Iran. According to Rubio, the US, together with its partners, seeks to strengthen stability in the region and prevent Tehran from gaining access to a nuclear arsenal.
As a reminder, yesterday, July 14, President Trump threatened to impose 100% tariffs on basic goods imported from russia if putin does not agree to negotiations within 50 days.
In response, European foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said that US President Donald Trump should have given russian dictator vladimir putin a shorter deadline to cease fire and begin negotiations with Ukraine.
