North Korea has declared its readiness to fully support russia in its foreign policy actions, including aggression against Ukraine.
DPRK leader Kim Jong Un has stated this during a meeting with russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Reuters reports.
The talks between the delegations took place in the coastal city of Wonsan. During the meeting, the parties confirmed their intentions to develop strategic cooperation within the framework of last year's partnership agreement, which provides for mutual defense.
According to KCNA, Kim said that "the DPRK unconditionally supports and approves of all measures taken by the Russian leadership to eliminate the causes of the Ukrainian crisis." He also expressed his belief that joint steps between Pyongyang and Moscow "will contribute to global peace and security" – a statement that contradicts the international position of most countries in the world.
Before that, Lavrov held separate talks with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui, after which a joint statement was published on the intentions to defend each other's national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Russian media have already reported that Lavrov called the ties between russia and North Korea "invincible fighting brotherhood" during the visit and thanked Kim for the military assistance provided.
Recall that in October 2024, President Zelenskyy announced that russia was preparing two units of 6,000 North Korean soldiers. As of January, 4,000 of them had already been neutralized in the Kursk Oblast. According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, soldiers from the DPRK refuse to surrender, sometimes commit suicide or finish off wounded comrades. They also kill Ukrainians who try to surrender. Russia is hiding their participation, recording them as Tuvans, and sometimes burning the faces of the dead to make identification impossible.
At the same time, reports from South Korean and Ukrainian intelligence agencies about Pyongyang's planned dispatch of its troops to participate in hostilities against Ukraine were indirectly confirmed by russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who arrived in North Korea on an official visit the day before.
The aggressor country, russia, may be preparing for a large-scale offensive on the territory of Ukraine this summer with the support of North Korean military personnel.
