The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has informed the head of the Anti-Corruption Center (ACC) Vitalii Shabunin of suspicion. According to the investigation, he was evading military service and using a car that was assigned to the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
The SBI press service reported this on July 11. According to the Ukrainian News agency, the department's statement refers to Shabunin.
The SBI said that the suspect was mobilized in 2022. For a long time, he did not appear at his place of service and, under the guise of alleged business trips, was in civilian institutions.
Law enforcement officers also documented the facts of his receipt of a monthly cash allowance of UAH 50,000. At the same time, he was actually absent from the military unit to which he was mobilized.
In addition, he illegally used a car that was imported into Ukraine as humanitarian aid for the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. It did not have proper registration and there were no legal grounds for this.
Shabunin was informed of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 409 (Evasion of military service under martial law) and Part 2 of Article 190 (Misappropriation of someone else's property by fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanctions of the above articles provide for up to 10 years of imprisonment.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 11, law enforcement agencies conducted searches in the house and at the place of service of the head of the Central Criminal Police Office Vitalii Shabunin.
During the searches, a mobile phone was seized from Shabunin.
Recall, in May of this year, serviceman Volodymyr Boiko accused Shabunin of misappropriating a car that volunteers bought for the 207th Territorial Defense Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
