CNN has released exclusive audio recordings of Donald Trump's conversations with his political sponsors, made back in 2024 - when he was running for a second presidential term. The recordings shed light on his "backstage" statements regarding the potential US response to russian or Chinese aggression.
This is stated in the CNN news story.
In particular, in the audio, Trump recalls his conversation with russian president vladimir putin, in which, according to him, he threatened to bomb Moscow in the event of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine:
"I told putin: 'If you invade Ukraine, I will destroy the damn Moscow. I will have no choice.' He replied: 'I don't believe you.' And I said: 'Believe me, it will happen.'"
In the conversation, he also claims that he expressed a similar position to Chinese leader Xi Jinping regarding Taiwan:
"I told him: 'If you attack Taiwan, I will bomb Beijing.' He thought I was crazy and asked: 'Beijing?!' And I said: 'Yes, I have no choice."
Trump noted that both leaders "believed him about 10%," but, according to him, this was quite enough for deterrence.
Recall that Donald Trump is currently considering the option of transferring another Patriot anti-aircraft missile system to Ukraine.
