Ukrainian marine Roman Hrybov, whose phrase "russian warship, go f*** yourself..." became one of the symbols of the Ukrainian resistance in 2022, announced his dismissal from the ranks of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He published a corresponding post on his Facebook page.
"I resigned from the ranks of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. To be honest, I didn't really want it, but that's how the circumstances turned out," Roman wrote.
Since 2018, Hrybov has served in the 35th separate marine brigade named after Rear Admiral Ostrohradskyi. It was he, defending Zmiyinyi Island on the first day of the full-scale russian invasion, who responded to the demand to surrender with a phrase that instantly spread around the world media and became a national meme. In 2022, the phrase was officially recognized as the National Record of Ukraine - 28 million citations.
Although Hrybov completed his service, he emphasized that he remains in the ranks in spirit and actions.
"The fact that I have resigned does not give me the right not to do everything possible for our common victory. As long as I can benefit my brothers and those to whom I can - I will do it," the marine emphasized.

He also appealed to Ukrainians to maintain unity.
"No matter how much they want to break us inside the country - let it pass. Our enemy is one. And although it is the second army in the world, it consistently receives f***s from small Ukraine," Hrybov wrote.
As you know, the cruiser Moskva, which appeared in the aforementioned story, was destroyed on April 14, 2022. And on June 30 of the same year, Ukraine regained control of Zmiyinyi Island.
