Germany is working on providing Ukraine with the air defense systems necessary for its protection. This was reported by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul during a press conference in Ukraine.
The Foreign Minister reported that Germany is working on negotiations with the United States of America for the possibility of purchasing air defense systems for Ukraine, as well as increasing the capacity of its own military-industrial complex to create such systems.
"We are taking all possible paths. Of course, German industry is trying to increase its capacity. I am in contact with Federal Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius regarding this: are all the systems that Germany has really needed by Germany. Is it possible to transfer some air defense systems to Ukraine from our reserves," he said.
He also emphasized that air defense is of great importance at this time.
"We will try to conduct additional advertising in the United States... It became clear to me that air defense is of particular importance," the minister added.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, today, June 30, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul arrived on an official visit to Ukraine. This is his first trip to Kyiv since his appointment to the post. However, on May 9, he already participated in an informal meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Lviv.
On June 12, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius visited Ukraine. At that time, he stated that his country was not considering the possibility of supplying Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine.
