Trump announces signing of US-China trade deal: rare earth elements in exchange for lifting sanctions

US President Donald Trump announced the signing of a new trade deal with China, which was concluded on the basis of previous agreements reached in Geneva.

The President said this the day before during a speech at the White House.

According to Trump, China agreed to supply the US with rare earth elements, and Washington will in response gradually lift its restrictions.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick added that the agreement was concluded two days ago. Trump also announced a possible agreement with India and said that not all countries will receive preferential conditions - some will be subject to duties of 25 to 45%.
