Kyiv will increase electricity production and plan to increase production capacity by 116 MW by the end of 2025. This was reported by Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Petro Panteleyev, the press service of the Kyiv Administration reports.
Thus, it is reported that such indicators can be achieved due to gas turbine and gas piston units.
"And by the end of the next heating season, this figure is planned to be increased to 170 MW. The city is implementing the concept of distributed generation: modern cogeneration units are being installed that simultaneously produce electricity and heat. This makes the heat and power complex more reliable and maneuverable," the report says.
Panteleyev also recalled that in previous periods, missile attacks caused large-scale destruction in the energy system of Ukraine.
"About 70% of the capital's generating equipment was also destroyed. Kyiv restored the electricity generation volumes that were lost due to armed aggression in record time," Panteleyev said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in Ukraine, due to adverse weather conditions - rain, thunderstorms and strong winds, as of this morning, 55 settlements in four regions were completely or partially without electricity.
Earlier, the acting chairman of the board of NPC Ukrenergo Oleksii Brecht, during the Energy Day 2025 of the European Business Association, which is taking place in Kyiv on Wednesday, reported that the situation in the energy system remains fully controlled and this makes it possible to predict the summer without a shortage of electricity, and only damage to energy facilities as a result of shelling can change the situation.
