Ukraine should go through summer without electricity shortage – Ukrenergo Acting Chair

Ukraine should go through the summer without electricity shortage.

Interfax-Ukraine writes about this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Acting Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo Oleksii Brekht, during Energy Day 2025 of the European Business Association, which is taking place in Kyiv on Wednesday, said that the situation in the energy system remains fully controlled and this makes it possible to predict the summer without electricity shortage, and only damage to energy facilities as a result of shelling can change the situation.

“I am often asked what will happen with electricity in the summer. Today, the situation in the energy system is absolutely controlled and normal. We almost completely cover domestic consumption. The attraction of imports is commercial. We also export electricity. If we put aside the question of whether there will be shelling or not, then I have no doubt that we will go through the summer and autumn periods normally, and also prepare for the winter in a timely and high-quality manner,” he said.

“If they don’t shoot (the occupiers – IF-U), then there will be no power outages in the summer,” Brekht added in a comment to journalists on the sidelines of the conference.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the EBRD sent the Ukrainian government a letter warning it of the termination of credit programs for NPC Ukrenergo due to uncoordinated changes to the company’s charter, made at the initiative of the Ministry of Energy.
