The advance of russian troops in the Sumy Region border area has been stopped, the battle line has been stabilized.
This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi in his Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"The defense of the Sumy Region is one of the main tasks for today. Based on the results of May-June, we can state that this year's wave of attempts at the enemy's "summer offensive" from the territory of the russian federation is being choked off in the same way as last year's attempt at offensive actions by the enemy in the Kharkiv Region. However, our decisions adopted earlier are already yielding results. The advance of russian troops in the Sumy Region border area has been stopped as of this week, the battle line has been stabilized," he reported.
Syrskyi noted that the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are successfully using the tactics of active defense and liberating Ukrainian land in the Sumy Region border area.
The Commander-in-Chief reported that in the North-Slobozhansk and Kursk Axes, Ukrainian troops have once again chained up about 50,000 personnel of the russian armed forces, including elite brigades of their airborne troops and marines.
He noted that the offensive actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Glushkov district of the Kursk Oblast (RF) forced the enemy to send a certain part of the troops to defend its territory, which significantly reduced the offensive capabilities of the main group of enemy troops in the Sumy Axis.
Syrskyi also reported that a special group has been created in the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the North-Slobozhansk Axis for the defense of the Sumy Region - cities and communities of the region.
Its primary tasks are to strengthen fortifications, expand the system of engineering and fortification barriers.
"The construction of additional fortifications, the organization of "kill zones", the construction of anti-drone corridors to protect our soldiers and ensure more reliable logistics for our troops are obvious tasks that are being carried out, but the efficiency of performing such tasks should be much greater. I will return with a check within the specified period," he noted.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 23, the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andrii Demchenko, reported that the activity of the russian occupiers in the Sumy Axis had decreased, although russia continues to send assault groups to the territory of Ukraine.
