President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to hold a meeting with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague, the main topic of the talks between the US and Ukrainian leaders will be "peace through strength".
The head of the Presidential Office Andrii Yermak announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
He said that the talks in The Hague with NATO leaders are focused on maintaining support for Ukraine, in particular, on the supply of weapons and air defense systems to Ukraine to protect against russian aggression, as well as on the introduction of additional sanctions against moscow.
According to Yermak, these are the topics that Zelenskyy will raise with the leaders of NATO countries on the sidelines of the summit in The Hague.
The head of the President's Office also reported that preparations for a meeting between the Presidents of Ukraine and the US are currently underway.
He discussed the relevant issue with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
"The topic I mentioned is the main thing for us - concrete results, because the war is ongoing. We have seen that the world really works through force. We have seen this in relation to Iran. It is no coincidence that Iran is a partner of Russia, they are absolutely similar. And therefore it seems to me that peace through force and bilateral relations will be the main topic," Yermak said.
On June 24, Sky News, citing the White House, reported that US President Donald Trump is to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the NATO summit in The Hague.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, a meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy was scheduled for June 17 on the sidelines of the G7 summit.
However, Trump decided to leave the G7 summit in Kananaskis (Canada) early and return to Washington.
The reason was the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East.
On June 21, Politico reported that discussions on the war in Ukraine at the NATO summit were canceled at the last minute due to US President Donald Trump's changed schedule.
Meanwhile, Trump plans to meet with Zelenskyy at the NATO summit.
