On June 23, the Supervisory Board of the national energy company Ukrenergo appointed Vitalii Zaichenko as Chairman of the company's Board.
This was announced in the company's statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The statement said that all 7 members of the Supervisory Board unanimously voted for Zaichenko's candidacy.
He is to take up his new position on July 1.
Supervisory Board Chairman Jeppe Kofod noted that the election of the new Chairman of the Board took place in compliance with a transparent competitive procedure.
Vitalii Zaichenko started working at Ukrenergo back in the 1990s, and worked his way up from an engineer to the chief dispatcher of the Unified Energy System of Ukraine (since 2015).
At the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion, it was Vitalii Zaichenko's professional skills that helped first transfer the Ukrainian power system to an isolated mode of operation, and then connect it to the continental European ENTSO-E power grid.
Also, the professionalism of the dispatcher team led by Vitalii Zaichenko made it possible to maintain the controllability of Ukraine's power system in the face of massive russian attacks on electricity generation facilities and transmission systems.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the competition for the election of a new Chairman of the Board of NEC Ukrenergo was announced by the Supervisory Board on February 5 of this year.
In September 2024, Oleksii Brecht was appointed interim acting Chairman of the Board.
By decision of the Supervisory Board of NEC Ukrenergo, the head of the company, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, was dismissed from his position on September 2, 2024.
