The US State Department has issued a Worldwide Caution Security Alert advising US citizens abroad to exercise increased caution due to the escalation in the Middle East.
This is indicated in a statement by the US State Department.
"The conflict between Israel and Iran has resulted in disruptions to travel and periodic closure of airspace across the Middle East. There is the potential for demonstrations against U.S. citizens and interests abroad. The Department of State advises U.S. citizens worldwide to exercise increased caution," the message says.
The agency also published travel advisories with information about the country and the latest security threats when planning travel on websites.
The announcement was published on June 22, the same day US President Donald Trump announced that US forces had carried out a series of strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
As Fox News later reported, US forces attacked facilities in Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz using bunker-busting bombs and Tomahawk missiles.
As a reminder, NBC News wrote that the Trump administration expects Iran to retaliate against US forces in the Middle East within 48 hours.
Also, the Yemeni Houthis (the Ansar Allah group) announced their entry into the conflict of Israel and its allies against Iran on the side of the Islamic republic. The Houthis have already threatened to attack allied ships in the Red Sea.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that it supports US actions against Iran.
