Russia resumes attacks on energy facilities - Halushchenko

The aggressor country of russia last week resumed large-scale attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, but so far there is no threat of power outages.

This was stated by Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko during the hour of questions to government in the Verkhovna Rada, Suspilne writes.

He noted that the Ukrainian energy system is operating in a stable mode, but the situation is complex.

"First of all, this is a consequence of the unprecedented attacks on the energy system that took place last year and this year. Unfortunately, now the attacks have resumed, large-scale attacks were last week and daily attacks on relevant equipment in front-line regions," the minister said.

According to Halushchenko, Ukraine is currently preparing for winter, purchasing gas for electricity, and has reserves of coal and nuclear fuel.

The key load during the heating season, the minister says, will be borne by nuclear generation, which at peak times generated up to 60% of all electricity. The planned repairs of the nuclear power plant were planned in such a way that during the winter all nine units located in the territory controlled by Ukraine would operate at full capacity.

He also stated that repairs are underway to heat generation facilities damaged by shelling in 2024.

Halushchenko noted that as of today there is no threat of power outages in the winter.

"It is clear that the resumption of massive strikes may affect the operation of generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity," he said and added that last year the russian federation carried out 33 strikes on Ukraine's energy sector.

As we will recall, Sybiha previously stated that Moscow intends to attack Ukraine's energy system while the world's attention is focused on the Middle East.
