If we don’t help Ukraine more, we might start learning russian - Kaja Kallas

The head of the European Union’s foreign policy department, Kaja Kallas, has made a sharp statement about the lack of support for Ukraine, warning that russia poses a direct threat to Europe and has a long-term plan of aggression.

She made this statement during an urgent meeting of EU foreign ministers, The Guardian reports.

“On Ukraine, the European Union is doing its part, not least because Ukraine is Europe’s first line of defense. We know that russia only responds to force,” Kallas stressed.

She emphasized the importance of the EU’s 18th package of sanctions against russia, noting that “every sanction weakens russia’s ability to wage this war.”

However, Kallas concluded her speech with a warning: “We have to do more for Ukraine - and for our own security as well. I quote my friend, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte: if we don’t help Ukraine more, we might all start learning russian.”

“The stronger Ukraine is on the battlefield today, the stronger it will be at the negotiating table when russia is finally ready to talk,” she added.

Previously, Europe has repeatedly called for increased military assistance to Kyiv, particularly against the backdrop of the growing threat of a new wave of russian aggression and pressure on Western capitals, which are beginning to lose focus on the Ukrainian war due to internal political processes.

As a reminder, the European Union has refused to lower the ceiling on russian oil prices.
