EU refuses to lower price ceiling for russian oil - Bloomberg

The EU’s plans to lower the price cap for russian oil are temporarily postponed amid rising global energy prices.

This is reported by Bloomberg.

According to the publication, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen did not support the idea of lowering the price threshold, which was part of a new package of sanctions against russia. Previously, the EU proposed lowering the price to USD 45 per barrel instead of the current USD 60.

However, recent trends in the oil market have made it difficult for EU member states to reach an agreement on this issue.

“In recent days, we have seen prices rise, so the oil price cap is really fulfilling its function,” von der Leyen said during the G7 summit, where this issue was also discussed.
