Ukraine receives almost USD 18 billion in loans and grants in 5 months of this year

In the first five months of 2025, Ukraine received almost USD 18 billion in foreign aid in the form of concessional loans and grants.

This is stated in the NBU material, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

By the end of the year, this volume may increase to USD 55 billion.

This will happen primarily due to the accelerated receipt of tranches under the ERA mechanism, as well as receiving planned support from the EU under the Ukraine Facility program.

This requires timely and full fulfillment of obligations to partners, primarily under the IMF program and the Ukraine Facility.

In June, Ukraine should receive a tranche based on the results of the eighth review of the IMF program.

Faster receipt of funds from partners allows for the increase in international reserves.

At the beginning of June, they amounted to USD 44.5 billion, the NBU forecast for the end of the year is about USD 58 billion.

Both indicators significantly exceed the required level according to the IMF composite criterion.

At the same time, the level of reserves accumulated this year is expected to decrease further.

It will make it possible to cover the needs of the foreign exchange market in the coming years, when the volume of assistance may decrease.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov previously announced that partners will allocate EUR 12.6 billion, USD 10.7 billion, and GBP 3 billion for military assistance to Ukraine in 2025.
