Risks for Ukraine will increase during Zapad-2025 exercises in Belarus – State Border Guard Service

Border guards are actively monitoring the situation in Belarus, there are currently no russian strike groups on its territory, but the risks for Ukraine will increase with the start of the Zapad-2025 exercises.

The spokesman for the State Border Guard Service Andrii Demchenko has reported this during a telethon.

Thus, it is reported that the State Border Guard Service is monitoring the situation in order to understand how many of its forces the aggressor state plans to involve and where exactly the Zapad-2025 exercises will be held.

"For us, of course, the priority is to study the information that we can obtain regarding the active phase of the joint exercises, because it is at this time that the risk for our country may increase. We cannot rule out some demonstrative actions in the direction of our border. But our main task is to be ready for the development of any situations," said Demchenko.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, residents of villages located in the "Suwalski Corridor" - an area connecting Lithuania with Poland and separating Belarus and the Kaliningrad Oblast of the russian federation - are leaving the region due to a possible attack by russia from two sides.

Earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, did not rule out that the large-scale Belarusian-russian Zapad-2025 exercises, which are planned for the fall, could be used to form a strike force near the Ukrainian borders.
